The purpose of this role is to bring the Xero voice to life through PR hustle; to drive engagement, build awareness and build sustainable brand equity across the Xero ecosystem. This is a dedicated role under PR which will manage an influencer program, conduct outreach and build relationships via social media and traditional channels. You have to be ready to hustle. This person is on Twitter, LinkedIn and email every day, scanning the environment and reaching out to and uncovering up and coming influencers.

Key Role Responsibilities:

Expand Xero's brand and influence in their region.
Engage key influencers, bloggers and social media pages and develop two-way relationships to convert them into Xero advocates.
Secure opportunities in long tail media outlets throughout their region.
Manage, create and deliver more region specific content as required.
Identify opportunities for meaningful conversation on social and online channels and forums.
Monitor competitor social media activity and identify opportunities.
Ensure Xero is an essential consideration in all product reviews and create greater exposure for software releases
Work with the Regional Marketing team on campaigns and ongoing brand awareness activities.
Be a proactive member of the Regional Marketing team


Qualifications and Experience:

Five plus years social media and public relations experience;
Proven experience in creating and delivering influencer programs;
Experience building online brand communities and managing multiple channels;
Advanced knowledge and understanding of social media platforms;
Self motivated, proactive and fast moving;
Skilled communicator with desire and/or history of thought leadership and creativity;
Oral and written communications including copywriting for online and social.


An understanding and appreciation of the SMB market and/or accounting industry, technology industry would be an advantage.

Four to seven years’ experience in the media industry at a senior level; two to four years at consultant level; or 1-2 years at assistant consultant level

Management of multiple client comms programs and campaigns
Working directly with media, analysts, influencers and other key stakeholders
Providing strategic client program management
Working with the Watterson senior team in new business development and generation
Managing communications/PR programs from the ground up and executing strategic programs
